{"id":103,"date":"2025-10-08T09:59:28","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T01:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pmnservicecoop.org\/?p=103"},"modified":"2025-10-08T09:59:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T01:59:29","slug":"cooperatives-unite-to-launch-credit-surety-fund-in-cagayan-de-oro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pmnservicecoop.org\/index.php\/2025\/10\/08\/cooperatives-unite-to-launch-credit-surety-fund-in-cagayan-de-oro\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooperatives Unite to Launch Credit Surety Fund in Cagayan de Oro"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY \u2014<\/strong> A promising initiative to boost financial access for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) took a major step forward as 14 cooperatives and key government agencies gathered for an organizational meeting to establish a Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Cooperative in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held Sept. 26 at Pearlmont Hotel, the meeting was facilitated by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), in partnership with the Community Improvement Division (CID) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cagayan de Oro. The proposed CSF Cooperative aims to empower local entrepreneurs by enabling them to secure loans without traditional collateral requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councilor Gilda \u201cGigi\u201d Go, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives, represented the LGU and voiced strong support for the initiative. Go said no MSME should be left behind. She added the CSF Cooperative will be a game-changer in uplifting livelihoods and driving inclusive economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants pledged financial contributions and elected interim officers to lead the cooperative\u2019s formation. Working committees were also created to oversee the next phases of development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CSF model, pioneered by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, allows cooperatives and other stakeholders to pool funds that serve as surety for member loans. This mechanism has proven effective in other regions, helping MSMEs access credit and scale their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stakeholders left the meeting optimistic, united in their commitment to make the CSF Cooperative a reality.
