Marcos Jr. launched a website last week for citizens to report irregularities in flood control projects, allowing them to communicate directly with the chief executive about problems in their communities.

The “Sumbong sa Pangulo” website at sumbongsapangulo.ph was created following the president’s fourth State of the Nation Address order to investigate flood control project irregularities. The move comes amid repeated widespread flooding during typhoon season.

Speaking at a Malacañan Palace press conference on Aug. 11, Marcos emphasized citizens’ crucial role in the investigation. He noted that ordinary citizens are most affected by flooding.

“We need the citizens to play their part, their civic duty to report to the government what they see as being wrong,” Marcos said.

The president told frustrated citizens they now have a platform to voice concerns. “Lahat ng hinaing ninyo- masama loob ninyo, nagrereklamo kayo, frustrated kayo dahil nakikita ninyo wala naman kayong malapitan. Ito na ‘yung chance ninyo. Mayroon na tayong website,” he said.

Marcos promised personal attention to each report submitted through the website.

“Ang isusulat ninyo doon sa report, ako mismo ang babasa. ‘Yan ang asahan ninyo, babasahin ko bawat isa,” he said.

The website features user-friendly navigation. Citizens can enter their barangay, municipal, city or provincial information to view all flood control projects in their area.

According to Department of Public Works and Highways data, approximately 9,000 flood control projects have been completed over the past three years.

The investigation will benefit from resident-provided information, including photos and videos, Marcos said.

“So, that’s why we are asking people to help us and to help themselves. Dahil kung maaayos natin ito, hindi na sila babahain o at least not as badly as they are now,” the president said.

The website includes an interactive map allowing users to locate projects through a search box or by clicking color indicators. Projects are categorized by completion year using color coding.

Each project listing provides comprehensive details: project name, approved budget, contract cost, legislative district, contractor, exact location, start date, funding year and completion date.

The government pledged action against anyone found involved in corruption and embezzlement of public funds in flood control projects.

President urges Filipinos to fulfill civic duty by reporting nonoperational projects directly to him President Ferdinand R.
